Here are the Award winners of SGC 2016
During the Award Dinner at Arena Skövde, on October 20th, five awards were handed out to some truly amazing teams and individuals.
The awards that was given away during this year’s ceremony were; Skövde Academic Game Award which was presented by Skövde kommun (Skövde Municipality), University of Skövde and Gothia Science Park, Rookie of the Year which was presented by Näringslivsforum in collaboration with Sweden Game Arena and the three honorary prizes Firestarter of the Year, Glue of the Year and Most Inspirational Team of the Year, which are awarded to people and teams who have contributed to Sweden Game Arena and the community in various ways during the year.

Skövde Academic Game Award
Creaky Stairs Studios – Notes of Obsession
“In only ten weeks, the winning team has succeeded in creating a commercially viable end product that has been downloaded more than 100,000 times. With fantastic art and design coupled with a breathtaking play experience, it is easy to be impressed with the winning team’s craftsmanship. The Jury is convinced that the members of this team will continue to contribute to new and exciting games in the future and hopes to see more of this in the coming years.”
Rookie of the Year
Flamebait Games – Passpartout
“Flamebait develops original games that tackle cultural subjects and go beyond simple entertainment to make the player think about deeper cultural subjects.”
Firestarter of the Year
“An honorary prize awarded to the person who has organized most community building events on his own initiative – such as board game nights, game jams, workshops and by doing so is contributing to the continued interaction between Sweden Game Arena community individuals.”
Glue of the Year
“An honorary prize awarded to the person who has been the most active and helped the most in building the SGA community. Actively retweeting and shares everyone else’s news, the person who is always present and ready to help with all kind of activities, who organizes events or simply is available to help those who organize events, who connects other devs with people from the industry, who readily shares the knowledge gained with the community members.”
Most Inspirational Team of the Year
“An honorary prize awared to the team who made the most creative, inspiring efforts. A team that people can look up to and learn from. A team who followed their unconventional ways but still ended up in a good position.”
