Polygon’s Ben Kuchera to host at student game presentations

On May 30 it is time for second year students at the University of Skövde to present their 10 week game projects at the Insikten venue at Gothia Science Park.

Host of the event is Mr. Ben Kuchera, from the American game site Polygon, who will test and feedback on the projects on site. All projects will be presented live, and streamed at his.se/live starting around 14.00 CET.

About Project in Game Development 2

During the spring, eight groups of second-year game students at the University of Skövde have developed games together on the theme Inclusion. Teams are formed by students from all the programmes, graphics, audio, music, game writing, design and programming, to simulate the process of actual game development.

– Considering the short time, i.e. 10 weeks, the students are extremely creative in their game ideas. By demonstrating their projects live on the internet, the students get an opportunity to present their work to a wider audience, such as companies in the industry and other interested parties, says Erik Sjöstrand.

The students will also host an expo at the venue, where media and public are welcome to come by and play the games.

From studies to a game studio of your own

The University of Skövde is home for Sweden’s most comprehensive and cutting edge selection of game development programmes, with 500+ enrolled Bachelor’s and Master’s students. Thanks to a close collaboration between the University of Skövde and The Game Incubator, both part of Sweden Game Arena, several student teams decides to start a game studio after completing their studies.
