Gibbet Games Secures Investment from Windmill Game Invest – Aims for a Horror-Inspired Golf Title

Gibbet Games has recently secured nearly one million SEK in funding from Windmill Game Invest and Almi Företagspartner. This investment marks an important milestone for the growing studio, founded by Jonathan Nilsson and Olof Aldsjö in late 2023, and is part of Sweden Game Startup.
“Our game concept was born during our movie and game nights, where we watched horror flicks from the 1960s and played classic golf titles on the Sega Dreamcast. We decided to blend the best of both worlds: a horror film theme and golf,” says co-founder Jonathan Nilsson.
The path from launching a business to securing funding has been quite a journey for Jonathan and Olof. They first connected with business coach Per Holmén through Sweden Game Startup, pitching their game idea at the end of 2022. That pitch helped them enter the program’s initial phase, and roughly ten months later, they established Gibbet Games.
“We’ve received a lot of support during our time in the program—everything from travel and office space to legal guidance and business development. Without their help, we wouldn’t be where we are today, and we might not have approached running a company the same way,” says Jonathan Nilsson, founder and CEO of Gibbet Games.

Securing the Investment
Gibbet Games has now landed an investment from the Skövde-based firm Windmill Game Invest, enabling the team to take the next step in developing their game Club House on Haunted Hill.
“Windmill Game Invest strongly believes in the thriving games scene in Skövde and sees huge potential in Gibbet Games. We put a lot of emphasis on the founders’ ability to create the next big hit, and Jonathan and Olof are experienced developers who have found an exciting niche. It’s never easy to stand out, but Club House on Haunted Hill certainly does. We look forward to supporting Gibbet Games as they continue to grow,” says Carl Bjerkne at Windmill Game Invest.
Almi Företagspartner is also joining Gibbet Games’ journey to help further accelerate the studio’s development.
“It’s fantastic that Gibbet Games has secured its first investment from Windmill Game Invest while also receiving support from Almi Företagspartner. This is a major milestone, giving the team the resources to move forward. As they worked toward closing the round, we at the startup program collaborated closely with them to strengthen their business model and create a sustainable growth and funding strategy,” says Anna Emanuelsson, Business Developer specializing in financing at Science Park Skövde.
Future Plans – Expansion and Ongoing Development
Thanks to the new investment, Gibbet Games can focus on expanding its team and refining the game even further.
“We want to hire more people and make Club House on Haunted Hill the most entertaining golf adventure for anyone who loves horror and fun challenges. With the support of Windmill Game Invest and our passion for game development, we’re ready to take the next step,” says Jonathan.
Club House on Haunted Hill is a story-driven golf game infused with the atmosphere of 1960s horror films. In addition to a campaign mode, the studio plans to offer both local and online multiplayer across various haunted courses.
“It’s set on the mysterious island of Gallows Neck, where each hole brings players deeper into a spooky tournament drama,” Jonathan concludes.
