The Nordics are the official partner region of the world's largest game fair: gamescom in Cologne

Sweden, together with Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Estonia, will join forces and meet in a large partnership pavilion at gamescom in Cologne. Additionally, the countries will collectively become the official partner region of the world's largest game event.

The organizers of gamescom, Koelnmesse and game – the German Games Industry Association, which is the German equivalent of Dataspelsbranschen, have signed a partnership agreement with the Nordic Game Institute, making the Nordics this year's partner region.

The Northern European countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Estonia have established themselves as major players in the games industry and have created some of the world's most well-known brands. Around 15,000 people work in the gaming industry in the Nordics, and there are approximately 1,400 companies with a total turnover of nearly seven billion euros. This makes the Nordic region one of the strongest and largest in Europe.

Some of the most well-known games are "Minecraft" by Mojang (Sweden), "Candy Crush Saga" by King (Sweden), "Battlefield" by EA DICE (Sweden), "Just Cause" by Avalanche Studios Group (Sweden), "Angry Birds" by Rovio (Finland), and "Max Payne" and "Alan Wake" by Remedy Entertainment (Finland).

The Nordic countries' pavilions will be located in Hall 4.1 at gamescom. The Swedish pavilion is organized by Sweden Game Arena together with Game Habitat and Arctic Game, Business Sweden, and Dataspelsbranschen.
