Skövde-based Stunlock Studios topped Deloitte’s prestigious Sweden Technology Fast 50 ranking in 2025. With growth of nearly 15,000 percent, the studio is a clear example of how Skövde continues to strengthen its position within the Swedish and international games industry.
Deloitte has released the 2025 edition of Sweden Technology Fast 50, the ranking of Sweden’s fastest-growing technology companies. Taking the top spot is Stunlock Studios, which has increased its net revenue by 14,972 percent over the past four years. A remarkable growth journey that puts both the studio and the city of Skövde firmly on the map.
Stunlock Studios was founded in 2010 through Science Park Skövde’s startup program and is today best known for titles such as Battlerite and the internationally successful vampire survival game V Rising. The company employs 41 people and blends classic game influences with innovative mechanics and strong visual design, attracting a broad global player base.
A journey of growth
The founders of Stunlock Studios began their journey as game development students at the University of Skövde and later became part of Science Park Skövde’s startup program. Over the years, the studio has grown into a key player in the local Sweden Game Arena community, not only through its own success, but also by sharing experience, contributing knowledge and supporting new game companies currently in the startup program.
“Topping the Sweden Technology Fast 50 is, of course, fantastic recognition of the work the team has put in over many years. Our growth reflects both the success of our games and our long-term focus on building a sustainable company,” says Rickard Frisegård, CEO of Stunlock Studios.
He continues:
“Being able to grow globally while keeping our base in Skövde has meant a lot to us. The local community, the close connection to the University of Skövde and the support from Science Park Skövde have all been important parts of our development.”
Strengthening Sweden’s games industry
The recognition is not only a testament to Stunlock Studios’ rapid growth, but also to the strength of Skövde’s games cluster, Sweden Game Arena. Through close collaboration between Science Park Skövde, companies, and academia, the city has developed into one of Sweden’s most established hubs for game development.
Science Park Skövde works long-term to support both new and established companies, from early business development to scaling and international growth. Stunlock Studios topping a national growth ranking highlights how local initiatives can achieve global impact.
“Stunlock Studios topping the Sweden Technology Fast 50 shows that game development is not only creative, but also a powerful growth engine. It strengthens Skövde as a whole and positions the city even more clearly on the international map,” says Marcus Toftedahl, Project Manager at Science Park Skövde.
